TITLE:  Youth Development Professional

PERFORMANCE

DEPARTMENT:   Operations

REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt þ Non-Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Youth Development Professional is responsible for the implementation of a broad range of programs for youth between the ages of 5 to 18 within a designated club in the areas of Education, Career Development, and The Arts. The Youth Development Professional provides supervision to junior staff. Program and the volunteer staff.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Preparing Youth for Success

1.          Contributes to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success.

2.          Contributes to creating a club environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.

Health and Safety

3.          Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment.

4.          Contributes to ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

Program Development and Implementation

5.          Contributes to effectively planning programs, service, and activities.

Supervision

6.          Ensure a productive work environment.

7.          Supervise the performance of assigned program volunteers and staff.

Partnership Development

8.          Contributes to developing partnerships with parents and families.

Marketing and Public Relations

9.          Contribute to developing and maintaining Public Relations.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE of:

▪          Safety practices and procedures relating to the work.

▪          Computer application related to work.

▪          Principles related to the development of youth between 5 and 18 years of age.

▪          Group leadership skills and understanding of group dynamics.

Ability to:

1.        Instruct, coach and direct varied activities.

2.        Implement goals, objectives, polices, procedures and work standards for assigned programs.

3.        Exercise independent judgement and initiative within general policy guidelines.

4.        Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

1.          High school diploma, GED; some college required.

2.          A minimum of two years of experience working with youth ages 5 to 18 years.

3.          Ability to obtain certification in CPR and Frist Aid.

4.          Possession of a valid state driver license.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Assist with promoting and marking club programs.
